Nenni & Associates partnered with a General Contractor to identify a Director of Project Development. The company is a Construction Management firm that formed an Energy Services division in 2021.
The client required a candidate with at least ten years of experience in project development within the performance market. They preferred the candidate to have experience managing teams and in-depth knowledge of building services, including HVAC, building automation systems, electrical distribution, and lighting systems. A four-year degree and PE certification were required.
Jim Schafer and Paul Copper of Nenni & Associates worked together to pull top-tier Energy Services candidates. The criteria for finding the best candidates included experience developing energy efficiency projects, PE certification, and experience or desire to grow and lead a team. Three candidates were chosen and submitted.
After careful consideration, two finalists were identified, and the final candidate was eventually chosen. This candidate was considered the best fit due to having over 15 years of experience within the energy efficiency space. They also had a PE certification, as requested by the client, and CEM and CMVP certifications. Besides technical abilities, the candidate aligned perfectly with the company’s culture.
The candidate was able to compel the decision-making team to make an offer thanks to their overall motivation and fulfillment of the company’s requirements to fit the Director of Project Development role. The candidate was looking for a leadership opportunity where he could spearhead the development process of projects and grow a team. That is precisely what the decision-making team was looking for this candidate to do.
The candidate accepted the offer and felt that it was a smart, professional move as the new role would allow him to grow and lead a team, which is ultimately what they were looking to do. The decision was also a wise financial move, as the salary was a sizable increase.
