Sean Bayless and Nicholas Kolasa partner with a rapidly growing Commercial Construction company to identify a General Manager. The opportunity was identified through previous successful hiring at the company.
The company is a private-equity-backed commercial and industrial construction contractor known for its high-quality work, premier safety standards, and ability always to put the customer first. The company focuses on driving existing building solutions through relationship-driven selling.
For the General Manager role, the client sought a technical and sales-driven ops leader with a versatile background, including experience in the technical construction environment, labor experience, and an understanding of all sides of the commercial construction business. They needed someone who would step in and maximize current pipelines while assisting salespeople to reach future goals. The ability to handle a significant book of business was also critical.
Using the client’s criteria for the General Manager position, the team submitted four top-tier candidates from the Building Envelope, Roofing, and Mechanical, Electrical, and General Construction industries. From those four, two were identified as the best candidates.
Eventually, the process successfully led to a final candidate. The client chose the candidate due to their well-rounded experience in the construction industry and evident ability to wear multiple hats at prior organization. They felt this person could easily transition their knowledge to support and develop the current and future team members.
The candidate was compelled to accept the offer as they were eager to take on more responsibility and further grow their career. The client saw great cultural alignment with the candidate and prior experience the translated seamlessly.
