Recently, through a previous relationship, a merit-based regional mechanical and plumbing contractor partnered with Jim Schafer and Austin Freeman of Nenni & Associates to identify a Senior Vice President of operations.
The company sought an experienced leader within the mechanical contracting space who could deliver exceptional operational and growth outcomes.
The requirements of the client included a track record of overseeing the operations of an approximately $100M mechanical contracting business that focuses on high-rise multifamily projects.
Considering these qualifications, Nenni’s team pulled candidates from mechanical, general, and plumbing contractors and submitted six top-tier choices. Eventually, the top two candidates were identified, and finally, a finalist was chosen.
An offer was made to the final candidate because they had direct operations experience from another mechanical contracting firm that focuses on high-rise multifamily projects.
The decision-making team was impressed with the candidate's experience in the oversight of all mechanical operations with a large mechanical contractor and their vast knowledge of mechanical and plumbing high-rise multifamily projects. Plus, there was excellent cultural alignment and a willingness to relocate to corporate headquarters.
The candidate was compelled to accept the offer. They felt the increase in base salary and implementation of equity was generous, especially since the equity interest was more than just financial. More importantly, the equity aligned with the candidate’s long-term career goals of expanding a business while being rewarded commensurately.
